A 21st birthday party for a group of 90 guests and a mix of age groups. Modern, rustic, and a little wild with a sophisticated vibe, to be hosted at home in October, in the family’s newly refurbished Tithe and Stable Barns in the Cotswolds.
Guests were welcomed into the car park field through the Autumn darkness with festoon lights running down the length of the party barns and into the field.
Large muslin drapes with generous, leafy garland tie backs dressed the stunning double height glass door of the Tythe Barn, and smaller versions of the drapes and garlands softened the connected Stable Barn doorways, too.
Up lighting throughout added colour and warmth, and a rustic grid with filament bulbs and greenery over bar added further practical light and also a contemporary, rustic statement piece for the reception.
Props and furniture such as milk churns, wheelbarrows, apple crates and sofas made of straw bales with cosy rugs were dressed with flowers, more greenery and plenty of fairy lighting for the reception. In the Stable Barn for dinner, the floristry continued with wild, loose florals at varied heights on tables, and trailing from windowsills.
Dinner was served at limewashed rustic trestles with uniform folding wooden chairs each uniquely painted in bold, distressed colours which brightened the sophisticated, pale barn together with the flowers, and pops of colour in the glassware to set off the neutral “natural collection” crockery and shining copper cutlery.
Personalised accents included hand-painted signage and a personalised graphic of the letter P which is the first letter of the family’s surname, used on invitations, table plan, place names and table names.
Fairy lighting over head for dinner, in the tree in the courtyard and the outdoor chill out area in an open barn pulled the design of the multi-event event together.
After dinner and speeches, guests ventured into the courtyard to enjoy the fire bowls and outdoor heating, rustic chill out furniture and cocktails served from a VW campervan tucked away next to the open barn. Meanwhile an 8 piece band picked up the pace back in the Tithe Barn and kept everyone moving!
