Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards Evening

The Brief

Oasis Events was approached to be the Event Partner for the inaugural So Glos Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards (SGGLA). The event was to be held at historic Blackfriars Priory in Gloucester in May 2018.

The Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards evening was the first by So Glos showcasing the county’s business talent across 20 categories.  The promotion, nominations and voting were organised ‘in-house’ by the online magazine.

The live event was to be relaxed and informal, slick in its delivery and with a celebratory atmosphere. 300 guests were anticipated.  All event designs and logistics must work within the parameters of working inside the Priory (i.e. ensuring adherence to venue heritage, and health and safety requirements).

The Solution

Prior to the event

Using our local preferred suppliers and a network of the client’s chosen partner suppliers, a core team of providers was put together to provide a seamlessly-hosted and professional Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards evening.

Oasis provided meeting, site visit, venue and supplier coordination, budgeting and scheduling.

On the day

Oasis coordinated the installation and setup, ran the rehearsals and supported the final stages of the preparations.

Guests were welcomed into the sunny gardens to wander the site.  They were invited to free drinks from the venue bar and their complimentary meal from award-winning Simpsons’ Fish and Chips.

The venue was dressed with giant ‘hashtag’ letters, branded banners, giant helium balloons in the towering ceiling of the priory, and projected content on the venue’s screen behind the lectern for the presentations.

Furniture was set out in small groups for casual gatherings, on two levels and avoiding historic monuments within the building.

A DJ provided background and walk up music for the awards, and a professional compere supported SoGlos to present the awards with energy and humour.

Wandering magic, branded free gifts and a sunny evening all contributed to a party vibe. A vintage sweet shop looked after those with a sweet tooth during the evening and professional photography ensured that every winner was captured, and the vibe of the event too.

The event was more successful than we could have ever hoped, with around 300 guests coming together for a fantastic celebration in the iconic Blackfriars Priory setting last week.

The social media momentum just keeps going and going. “Electric”, “unique” and “an incredible event to be part of” are just some of the words used to describe SGGLA. The Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards’ informal nature has quickly cemented their position as the definitive awards of their kind.
