A festival style 21st birthday party in July – party planning by Oasis Events
It’s been the usual incredibly busy summer season… with little time to write about our high times, so here at last we present an exceptional, beautiful 21st Birthday party at a client’s Gloucestershire home, with party planning by Oasis Events.
With the design hung loosely around a “Woodstock” festival theme elegance, style and colour were key elements to the concept and implementation, put together over a number of months, ready for a beautiful night in early July 2015.
A mood board was created to share ideas with the client. Over a number of meetings and site visits with handpicked suppliers, the party flow was agreed to include a reception in the hall, the rear garden room and terrace, with an after-party planned on a front lawn to carry the party on until the morning. Our client lived between not only countries but continents so pre-event liaison was kept regular but concise.
The dressing elements were sourced and installed over three days by House of Bunting, a partnership of two unstoppable ladies who had the interesting challenge of styling inside a many 100’s year old private venue, with an award-winning concrete and glass structure to contend with for the overhead work. Ruth and Kim succeeded in making a bespoke overhead canopy of multi-coloured paper lampshades apparently float above the dinner guests, and the dancing later.
On the night… a cast of perfectly dressed festival-going guests arrived in good time to kick off the party with cocktails mixed live by our caterer McBaile. Canapés were served for 2 hours to allow guests to catch up, mingle and enjoy the garden. Hay bale furniture sets and installation of wooden “chumps”, candles, copious fairy lights and garden lighting provided the outdoor Woodstock styling. All the lighting was set by the marvellous Enlightened Lighting, a team with the quintessential mix of artistry, efficiency and true grit to make things happen! A private collection of exotic animals in the garden during set-up, and a last minute live presentation to kit-up were easily handled … !
McBaile made light work of serving a delicious light Paella for 90 guests with a zingy citrus and green salad followed by a dessert which included an enticing crackling chocolate soil infused with wasabi. The dinner was laid back, served at long, hand-made wooden trestle tables and folding chairs, under the lantern canopy. The flowers by Stephanie Saunders were structured and simple in silver troughs, stored down in the cellar for temperature control, and walked up to the glass dinner venue only in time for the final placement to be completed. We brought colour to the clean-lined room with glassware and charger plates from Whitehouse Event Crockery Hire.
The dancing after dinner took place in a splendidly dressed and lit pair of connected tipis from the fabulous Stunning Tents, welcoming guests onto the front lawn to party the night away. A fire bowl and further hay bale sofas, a full bar and comfy furniture provided drinks and chilling space until the early hours, when breakfast was served from a live grill.
Photographer Holly Clark, captured the evening, providing lasting memories for our client, and a record for us of how this beautiful event played out…
“Thank you to you and all your team for helping to put together our daughter’s 21st birthday party on Saturday night. It was a great success which went until the early/ late hours of Sunday morning (as you know!) and ran like clockwork. So many of her friends described it as absolutely beautiful, we were all delighted with it.”
