#FlashBackFriday- Two Decembers ago, a client requested party with “pub” styling for his mother’s 80th birthday, and we relished the challenge.

Our client wanted a Northern-style pub that would be reminiscent of his mother’s youth.  We bought original Whisky barrels from a local supplier and with them created poseur tables for this look, even an antique bell to announce last orders and a blackboard to write on the day’s specials.

Deep purple and gold Brunel linings created a cosy gentlemen’s club atmosphere within two conjoined boutique tents; a bar area and a dining area, complete with chesterfield sofas.  We decorated the space with vintage paintings adorned with foliage and vases filled with flower arrangements, working with our friend and florist Fiona Perry.

The pub tents were erected in a back-garden, so to protect the guests’ feet from damp as well as the slopes of the lawn, we constructed a hard floor transforming the tents into a weather-proof room – complete with a wooden door entrance.  Brass wall lamps, globe chandeliers strung from the ceiling and free-standing lamps brightened the space and for a natural glow in the evening, we added tall candlesticks to each table.

With the EastEnders Queen Vic in mind, we sourced an antique mahogany bar with all the trimmings; beer mats, mirrored drinks display shelves and even the carded bar snacks you will find in any traditional pub.

The guests enjoyed catering from ‘Made by Bob’, Cirencester and were pampered with hair and make-up styling.  Our clients and guests were thrilled with the event and we were thrilled with the look.

Fancy a pint?  Right you are…
