The Brief

For a milestone birthday, our client challenged us to create a fully immersive, multi-act celebration built around an unexpected theme. Inspired by a tongue-in-cheek “day in the life” of chippies, sparkies and brickies - reimagined without rules, restrictions or Health & Safety - the experience unfolded as a progressive party, evolving from a relaxed afternoon via multiple playful surprises into a full-throttle late-night rave.

Set across a working Cotswolds farm on the hottest day of the year, 250 guests stepped into character - sequinned dungarees, boots and sparkly hard hats - embarking on a journey through distinct environments, each building on the last.

Our Solution

The day began deliberately low-key: a rural campsite with BBQ, band, and good-humoured themed games. Even a sudden downpour added to the charm. As skies cleared, guests were led on a “Walk to Work” procession - following a live band on a pick-up truck - towards the next chapter.

The pace lifted inside a transformed agricultural barn: the “Tradie Playground.” Here, reclaimed materials and bespoke builds created a gritty, festival-style trading estate, complete with themed bars, gaming zones, and irreverent details - from safety signage to site passes. Actors as Foremen and Health & Safety officers guided (and disrupted) the action, keeping the narrative alive.

Surprises were layered throughout: immersive photo moments, playful food and drink, roaming performances, and unexpected set pieces - designed to reward exploration, encourage interaction and maintain momentum.

High-energy performances punctuated the experience, with a DJ running the mini cab office taking us on a sunny funk and soul journey, a band belting out from a curtain sided trailer, and a 12 piece brass group serenading guests into the night club before a late night house music session.

As day turned to night, the experience shifted. In the “Building Site” nightclub, the industrial aesthetic was pushed to the extreme – Scaffolding towers as temporary walling, UV lighting, dry ice effects, podium dancers and heavy machinery repurposed as staging. A scissor lift elevated performers mid-set, while a JCB moved a giant mirror ball across the dancefloor.

What began as a relaxed afternoon gathering evolved into a high-energy, no-holds-barred party - each chapter escalating in scale, intensity and imagination.

Over seven months, and with a 92-strong team on the day, we conceptualised, designed and delivered a seamless, story-led experience that celebrated the unconventional - proving that with the right creative vision, even the most unexpected theme can become an unforgettable event.

Event Highlights:

  • Immersive Storytelling: The event was designed as a progressive, multi-act party, taking guests from a relaxed rural campsite through a series of playful surprises before building towards a full-throttle late-night rave. Every stage of the celebration was carefully sequenced, with each chapter escalating the energy, atmosphere and theatrical detail.
  • Unexpected Theme: Inspired by a tongue-in-cheek “day in the life” of chippies, sparkies and brickies, the Tradies concept was reimagined without rules, restrictions or Health & Safety. Guests fully embraced the theme, arriving in sequinned dungarees, boots and sparkly hard hats for a milestone birthday celebration unlike any other.
  • Transformational Set Design: A working Cotswolds farm was transformed into a series of distinct environments, including a rural campsite, a festival-style “Tradie Playground” and an industrial “Building Site” nightclub. Reclaimed materials, bespoke builds, themed bars, gaming zones, safety signage and site passes helped bring the trading estate concept to life.
  • Interactive Entertainment: Actors appeared as Foremen and Health & Safety officers, guiding and disrupting the action while keeping the narrative alive. Immersive photo moments, playful food and drink, roaming performances and unexpected set pieces encouraged guests to explore, interact and stay fully engaged throughout the event.
  • Building Site Nightclub: As day turned to night, the industrial aesthetic was pushed to the extreme with scaffolding towers, UV lighting, dry ice effects, podium dancers and heavy machinery repurposed as staging. A scissor lift elevated performers mid-set, while a JCB moved a giant mirror ball across the dancefloor.
