The Brief

Our client commissioned Oasis Events for a themed birthday party at the beautiful Hill Barn in Lower Swell near Stow on the Wold in the Cotswolds.

The plan was to transport attendees to the "Roaring Twenties" through a sophisticated Gatsby-themed evening that balanced light-hearted, immersive entertainment with warm hospitality for a lifetime of friends and family.

Our Solution

Having professional event planning and management on board enabled our client to develop her ideas with our experience and contacts - integrating bespoke and hired in 1920s-style props and styling, to establish an authentic period ambience. We transformed the venue’s towering Dutch barn using a curated 1920s-style silver and white palette, with smaller props and style items provided by our client. We recommended some themed live entertainment to bring the theme to life and add memorable highlights to the flow of the evening.

The plans were carefully curated over 12 months with calls, visits and documents to bring together all the details and communicate with all the supplier teams.

We coordinated a varied team of suppliers -some sourced by our client, other by Oasis – bringing together catering, furniture hire, styling and props, the bar team, technical support and live performers, a photo booth, photographer and the client’s own Murder Mystery plans, power requirements, furniture layouts, rehearsal and set up time and a schedule of deliveries and collections.

Bringing together multiple suppliers, bespoke elements, and a detailed event schedule required careful planning and coordination throughout. From initial concept through to final execution, our team ensured every element aligned seamlessly, allowing our client to relax and enjoy the occasion from start to finish.

Event Highlights:

  • Immersive Entertainment: Professional dancers set the tone: greeting guests on arrival in fabulous feathers, and giving a surprise performance in flapper dresses during dinner. Later, they hyped the dance floor during a live performance from the esteemed Cotswold "Hot Fingers" jazz band.
  • Signature Styling: Our client’s vision of the roaring twenties was to avoid the traditional gold elements as far as possible. Focusing the styling on silver, black and white. We sourced bespoke props and decorations, and devised artwork for the occasion to coordinate the bar frontage, band backdrop and printed elements throughout the party design. Table decorations provided a sea of white feathers and pearls in gleaming silver vases, working beautifully with a white feather photo backdrop for a vintage camera, audio guest book telephone handset, and striking black velvet chaise longue for posing!
  • Interactive Murder Mystery: Our client’s bespoke murder mystery, with personalised scripts and character monologues, integrated the guests and provided light-hearted ice-breaking humour throughout the evening, complete with guests performing as specific characters and musical interludes.
  • Details Details: Every element was considered to create a landmark celebration delivered on budget and to run immaculately on time, making the very most of the occasion. With meticulous planning and attention to detail, we made sure our client could relax and enjoy the planning journey, and the night itself, knowing we cared as much about the detail as she did, and bringing it all together in style, and like clockwork.
