A Summer lunch setting with wooden trestle tables

The Brief

To assist our client – based in Notting Hill – with putting together a relaxed summer lunch for 60 guests at their home in the Cotswolds.

Copper cutlery and striped napkins

The Solution

With a long lawn stretching away under a willow tree and out to the Cotswold hills, the setting for a long outdoor banquet table was ideal.  The furniture was carefully researched for style, comfort and importantly size – relevant to the service of sharing bowls, and the styling elements planned for the table.  Tableware and styling were put together from selected suppliers to create 60 low key but stylish place settings using “natural” ceramics, mismatched vintage water glasses paired with elegant wine goblets, and copper cutlery tied into blue & white striped ticking napkins with natural twine, hand written names tags, and fresh rosemary and lavender.

Scatter cushions with hand painted fabrics added colour and comfort to every place setting and the surrounding furniture for drinks.

The flowers on the table were a mix of opulent hydrangeas, and small vases of seasonal blooms in a purely green and white colourway, paired with contemporary clear glass votives for tea lights.

This June event was inspired by the concept of a picture perfect outdoor setting on a beautiful day.  With the English weather miraculously on their side, the client’s dream was realised (with a selection of beautiful vintage tents pre-measured and on standby….!).

The local butcher supplied meat for roasting, salads and a simple dessert, background music was provided by the HipCats under the willow tree acting as a natural stage, and a lounging corner of dressed hay bales for guests to relax and listen to the music gave the perfect spot to drink in the Cotswold view on a mellow afternoon.
